Emergency Planner's Companion Series On-Line©


The primary audience for these courses include planners involved in the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program (CSEPP), but will also be useful to those involved in developing plans for coordinating resources and implementing response procedures for fast-moving emergencies.

All on-line courses require a broadband internet connection, Shockwave and Quicktime.

Communications

The course will prepare emergency planners to develop plans that help officials:

  • prepare and assess emergency plans relating to the emergency communications infrastructure,
  • revise existing emergency plans on communications support networks and public alert and notification systems, and
  • recognize the human and organizational factors that contribute to effective emergency warning and communications.

Risk Communication Through Public Education and Information

This training describes the reasoning behind and the most important aspects of communicating risks on hazards to the public before an emergency through a community education program and the critical information to convey to the public during and after an emergency.

Protective Action

In the event of a hazardous release affecting populated areas, actions may have to be taken to eliminate or minimize toxic exposures of people in those communities. The most effective measures will be those that people take to protect themselves.
